# Your AI, your interface

> Use your own AI account on Rootsy, work in the browser or from any MCP client, and keep the code.

## Your own AI account

Claude Code comes installed on every computer. It signs in with your own Claude account, under your Claude plan and its limits. Rootsy doesn't resell tokens. You pay your AI provider for the AI and Rootsy for the computers. See [Plans and Runtime Credits](https://rootsy.io/docs/reference/billing.md).

Rootsy doesn't read or log your Claude token or your prompts. Claude Code stores both on the computer's disk, so they're in backups like any other file. See [Security](https://rootsy.io/docs/reference/security.md#your-claude-account).

You have root, so you can install another coding tool. Rootsy keeps the computer awake while Claude Code works. Another tool needs `rootsy keep-awake` to do the same. See [Sleep and wake](https://rootsy.io/docs/reference/sleep.md).

## Work in the browser

The workspace in your browser has a terminal, an editor, a Files window and the Preview. Claude Code runs in the terminal. It can show you its work by pointing the Preview at a page. See [Preview and testing](https://rootsy.io/docs/reference/preview-and-testing.md).

## Work from your own AI tool

Rootsy runs an MCP server. Connect Claude, ChatGPT or any client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth. Your tool can then create and delete computers, run commands, read files back, send files in from ChatGPT, and manage schedules and domains. See [Connect with MCP](https://rootsy.io/docs/reference/mcp.md).

The connection acts as you, on every computer you can reach. There's no read-only mode. To pause every connection at once, choose **Pause MCP access** on the **Account** page. Open it from **Manage account** in the account menu, or from **Settings** in the sidebar while you're in your personal account.

MCP doesn't handle backups, billing or organization members. Do those in the app.

The browser and MCP are the two ways in. There's no SSH.

## The code is yours

What your AI writes is files on your computer's disk. Push it to any git host. The stack is yours too. You pick the language, the framework and the database. See [No lock-in](https://rootsy.io/docs/no-lock-in.md).
